I was gearing up for a snowing and cold wedding when Yvonne told me of her December wedding date. But this Utah winter has been surprisingly warm! I haven’t needed to white knuckle grip my steering wheel while trying to drive through white roads, which I am thrilled about. Winter weddings are charming. The cozy atmosphere of the Grand America was inviting and warm. The Hotel had decorated the hall ways and the fireplace mantels with Christmas wreaths, ornaments and stocking. There was a large 25 foot Christmas Tree in manicured courtyard that twinkled from every branch.
Yvonne and Jake took the same chemistry class at Westminster College in the heart of Salt Lake City. They shared the class with Yvonne’s younger sister and the three of them soon became inseparable. They studied together, hung out together, shared mutual friends , and all three of them played lacrosse. It was after one of Yvonne’s lacrosse game when Jake surprised his beautiful girlfriend with a wedding ring and asked Yvonne to marry him. The two of them moved back east after Jake got accepted to the Uniformed Services Medical School in Maryland, but came back to their home of Utah to get married.
Jake and Yvonne decided to hold an intimate courthouse ceremony with their family around them. The details of Yvonne’s dress were gorgeous. The blush undertones and cream lace brocades and chapel length veil were a perfect fit for her classic and elegant look. It was a stunning day and the two of them were radiant.
I always love seeing Blushing Rose florals. It could be the gold brushed eucalyptus seeds or the subtle pink roses, but this is one of my favorite bouquets ever.
Yvonne and Jake shared a first look before their wedding ceremony. There was excitement and smiles from their family that waiting in the building and Jake and Yvonne went to the courtyard.
They celebrated with a family dinner at Ruth’s Chris. The air was edible as the smell of steamed vegetables and lobster and steak platters were brought out. Their loved ones toasted and cheered together.
